The Gage Hotel: Deck the Walls with Texas Smalls

Foltz Fine Art (formerly William Reaves | Sarah Foltz Fine Art) of Houston teams up with the prestigious Gage Hotel to host a holiday celebration bringing West Texas art enthusiasts an outstanding exhibition, featuring six of the state’s best contemporary artists at the Gage Hotel’s V6 in Marathon, Texas. The Houston-based gallery is acknowledged as one of the foremost venues for Texas art, focusing on early, modern, and contemporary art, and represents an acclaimed group of Contemporary Texas Regionalist artists. 

 

With the artwork selected for this exhibition, we celebrate Texas Art in the location at the source of inspiration, featuring works by painters and photographers of the Big Bend region. For some it’s a place of life-long place of pilgrimage, others it’s a favorite travel destination, and a few uproot their lives to be in the presence of its magnificence on a daily basis.  

 

 

This Deck with Walls features seven of the gallery’s most prominent members of the Contemporary Texas Regionalist group: Mary Baxter (Marfa), David Caton (Utopia), E. Dan Klepper (Marathon), Noe Perez (Corpus Christi), Jeri Salter (Lago Vista), Earl Staley (Houston), Bob Stuth-Wade (Dublin).

 

Deck with Walls coincides with Marathon’s annual Fiesta de Noche Buena where Main Street merchants extend their hours for this charming outdoor street festival which kicks off the holiday season with an outdoor tree lighting, children’s folklorico dancing, caroling, hay rides, food and drinks, live music, a visit from Santa, Best Christmas Lights tour and competition, and a Raffle fundraiser for the Marathon PTO. 

 

The exhibition will be on view December 13, 2019 – January 31, 2020, with an opening reception Friday, December 13th from 6-8pm located at the V6 at the Gage Hotel in Marathon, Texas.
